Innovation in the treatment of epilepsy
A LIFETIME OF INDIVIDUALITY
Epilepsy is accopmanied by symptoms such as loss of conciousness and seizures. Epileptic seizures can have many causes and are a great strain on the person affected and their loved ones.

4,5 MIO PEOPLE
in Europe are suffering from focal epilepsy

1 IN 3
of those cannot sufficiently be treated with drugs

ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?
EASEE® may be an option for you
MEDICATION OFTEN IS NOT ENOUGH
The most common treatment options are drugs. But a lot of patients suffering from epilepsy don't benefit enough from drugs alone. On average, patients are suffering from their seizures for 15 years before additional Treatment options, e.g. medical devices, are suggested to them.
If further epileptic events occurr despite treatment with two standard medications effective for the respective type of seizure or epilepsy, this is known as "drug-refractory epilepsy".

HOW CAN EASEE® HELP?
The innovative method of focused cortical brain stimulation offers a new possibility to treat seizures and improve the course of the disease. EASEE® does not interfere with daily life in any way. Whether it is playing sports, swimming or a visit to the sauna - all of these activities are possible with EASEE®. The stimulation will continue in the background, unnoticed by the patient.
TREATMENT OPTION | HOW DOES IT WORK? | FOR WHOM? |
---|---|---|
EASEE® | Minimally invasive implantable stimulation device, where an electrode patch is placed under scalp, over the epileptic focus | Patients with focal epilepsy who do not sufficiently benefit from drug treatment and are looking for alternative „less invasive“ therapy options |
VNS | Implantable stimulation device, where electrode is wrapped around vagus nerve | Patients with epilepsy who do not sufficiently benefit from drug treatment |
DBS | Implantable stimulation device, where electrode(s) placed in deeper brain structures | Patients with (generalized) epilepsy who do not sufficiently benefit from drug treatment |
RNS | Implantable stimulation device, where electrodes are placed on cortex and/or in deeper brain structures, IPG in skull | Only available in the USA |
Resective Surgery | Surgical removal of brain areas responsible for seizures | Patients with a clearly defined epileptic focus that can be removed without causing major impairments |
Ketogenic diet | Diet with a high fat and low carbohydrate content, suggested to reduce seizure frequency over time | Children up to 12 years |
AEDs | Most common treatment method. A combination of drugs is often administered | Most epilepsy patients, although approx. 30% do not benefit sufficiently or experience side effects. |
IS EASEE® THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR ME?
The EASEE® system is suitable for people suffering from focal seizures, where medication alone is either inadequate or no longer provides relief and brain surgery is not (yet) an option.
